Our mission at the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company is to be the lowest cost provider of any and all FDA approved medications. To achieve this goal, we often have to start slowly and offer medications to a limited number of patients. 

This allows us to test and optimize our procedures so that we can be in as good a position as possible to serve as many patients as possible.

In response to overwhelming demand, we have initiated a special trial process for insulin.

Of course, the demand for lowering the cost to patients is enormous. So this test is critically important. For this first step, we have selected a group of doctors that we have worked with in the past and who are aware that this is a very limited test.  We currently are only accepting prescriptions from these doctors.

If your doctor has not talked to you about costplusinsulin.com, you are not currently eligible for this service and your prescription will not be filled.

For this test, costplusinsulin.com currently offers two products,

  • Insulin Lispro Vials
  • Insulin Lispro Kwikpens.

We cannot fulfill orders for any other types of insulin.

Your doctor is aware of this limitation. The insulin is manufactured by a major name manufacturer that has been disclosed to your doctor.

So, how is pricing going to work?

In addition, and this is critical to know, costplusinsulin.com sells insulin BY THE MONTH, NOT BY THE VIAL. 

THIS IS A CRITICAL ASPECT OF THIS TEST, that we need to make clear.  As a user of insulin, you know how much you use each month.

Make sure to discuss this fact with your doctor and order the insulin option that meets your MONTHLY NEEDS.

As part of this test, we are specifying that each order must be for exactly 3 months worth of insulin.

We are doing this because the costs of shipping from the manufacturer to the pharmacy, from the pharmacy to your door, plus the cost of the packaging required to support the cold-chain shipping requirement for insulin are significant.

Our packaging and shipping cost will average $55.

Our packaging costs will range from $6 to $15 dollars.

For refrigerated shipping, depending on where we ship from and to, the cost will be anywhere from $25 to $100, just for the contiguous states. More for Hawaii and Alaska. 

The total cost will average around $55 dollars.

The Pharmacy Labor fee for this trial will be $10.

It is higher than the normal $3 because of the cold-chain process required for insulin.

By example, we expect the average and median  number of vials to be used by a patient each month to be 2.

For this trial, we will be charging $35 for each of the 3 months, plus the pharmacy fee of $10 and the actual shipping and packaging fee, which we expect to average $45

 

So the total charge for a typical 3 month, 6 vial shipment will be $150, or $25 per vial.

For those patients who use 3 vials of insulin per month, the $150 is divided by 8, or $18.75 per vial 

And for those that use 4 vials, the $150 is divided by 12 or $ 12.50 per vial 

These  are competitive prices for the heaviest users of  insulin

We realize that for those patients that only use 1 vial per month the price is $50 per vial, which is higher than we would like it to be. And we will work hard to get that price lower as quickly as we can 

We also hope to be able to allow patients to order 6,  9 or 12 months of insulin in the future.  Further reducing the cost per month and the cost per vial.

Please note that if you use Humalog brand insulin, your doctor may be able to switch you to insulin lispro. Please discuss this with your doctor.

We are also unable to fulfill orders for patients who are enrolled in a federal or state government-funded prescription program.

We only ship out orders on Wednesdays each week.

This is a limitation of the trial to help keep our costs low.

Please read carefully below to understand how long it will take to receive your costplusinsulin.com order:

  • If you place your order on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, you will receive your shipment by the following Friday (7-10 days) 
  • If you place your order on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, you will receive your shipment by the 2nd Friday after your order was placed (11-13 days)

FOR THIS TRIAL, WE ARE ONLY ACCEPTING PRESCRIPTIONS BY PHONE OR FAX.

Your doctor must include the following information on your prescription:

  • The email address you used to sign up for costplusdrugs.com
  • The “NDC Number” for the product you use: 
    • The NDC number for insulin lispro vials is: 0002-7737-01
    • The NDC number for insulin lispro pens is: 0002-8222-59
  • Instructions for how much insulin you should use each day. 
  • The number of days this prescription is supposed to last you. This must be 90 days.

We will contact you using the email address on your account within 24 hours after we receive the prescription from your doctor.

If you do not receive an email from [email protected], telling you to check out, we have not received your prescription, or the prescription we received did not meet the requirements above.

We cannot provide any assistance if this happens. You must contact your doctor and ask them to correct the issue.

AGAIN, AS A PART OF THIS TRIAL, SUPPORT IS LIMITED TO YOUR DOCTOR, WHO WILL NEED TO CORRECT ANY ERRORS.
